Une cartographie web de l'écosystème médiatique français

Maintaining a diversified media landscape is often presented as an important democratic issue. This ensures the plurality of information and the holding of contradictory debates in the public space. The traces generated by the digitisation of the media offer more possibilities for representing the structures and dynamics of a media landscape in constant transformation. In order to map the French media landscape, we have compiled a database comprising 747 active media websites, both traditional and alternative, to which are associated a set of metadata (web topology, Twitter metrics, administrative status, fact checking, etc.). The aim of this data paper is to give an account of the process by which this corpus was produced and a complete description of the data. We also provide a short presentation of research works based on this data and we list potential other uses of this dataset for research and other stakeholders interested in the analysis of the French media ecosystem.
