RésIn : Building Community in Research Engineering
This event will provide an opportunity to showcase the achievements of the RésIn project in 2023 and 2024 and to attend two panel discussions.

The RésIn project aims to unite the professions of research engineering. This second event (see recordings of the first event) will showcase the project's achievements for 2023 and 2024 and, through two panel discussions, explore the sustainability of research tools and the recognition of the work of engineers and research support professionals.
Program
9:00 - 9:30: Welcome coffee
9:30 - 10:00: Opening remarks by project representatives, Anne-Paule Roqueplo, Vice President for Research at Université Paris Cité, and Christine Musselin, Scientific Director of Sciences Po
10:00 - 10:30: RésIn project overview and achievements by Sandra Hamiche and Audrey Baneyx
10:30 - 11:00: Break
11:00 - 13:00: Panel discussion - “Creation, Maintenance, and Sustainability of Research Tools”
Moderated by Alina Danciu (Sciences Po, CDSP)
Teresa Gomez Diaz (Université Gustave Eiffel), Benjamin Ooghe Tabanou (Sciences Po, médialab), Stéphane Pouyllau (CNRS, Huma Num), Anne l’Hôte (MESR).
Research tools (software, methods, analysis techniques) are developed in laboratories, often thanks to the work of engineers, to produce results that are later published. These tools are essential building blocks of scientific production and require significant effort in creation, funding, maintenance, and dissemination. This panel aims to promote the sustainability of these tools by sharing experiences and strategies related to funding, maintenance, dissemination, and evaluation.
13:00 - 14:00: Lunch on-site in the Galerie Saint Germain
14:00 - 16:00: Panel discussion - “Publication Practices and Recognition of a Professional Community”
Moderated by Hugues Pecout (CNRS, Université Paris Cité)
Guillaume Garcia (Sciences Po, CDSP), Félix Terrier (Pépinord), Sandra Guigonis (OpenEdition Center, CNRS AMU, EHESS, Université d’Avignon), Charlotte Dion (Université Paris Cité).
Publication practices are central to recognizing and valuing the work of research engineers, as well as consolidating and recognizing this transdisciplinary professional community. Data journals, which are limited in France, especially in the humanities and social sciences, are among the most widely used publication outlets by research engineers. However, disseminating the work of engineers also involves various activities related to project management (management, reporting) and communication (interviews, laboratory websites). This panel aims to share across disciplines the many practices surrounding the recognition of research engineers and, more broadly, research support professionals, to encourage initiatives that strengthen connections and enhance visibility for this professional community on a national scale.
16:00 - 16:30: Closing remarks
16:30 - 17:30: Cocktail reception and photo exhibition tour
