On November 4 the medialab at Sciences Po and the CNRS Center for Internet and Society (CIS) hosted a seminar session followed by a conference led by Fred Turner Professor of Communication at Stanford University and a renowned expert on Silicon Valley

On this occasion Fred Turner and Olivier Alexandre CNRS Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Center for Internet and Society gave an interview for Conférence the content-sharing platform of Sciences Po

They explore how the so-called Californian ideology which once framed technology as a force for emancipation is collapsing in favor of a model based on data and resource extraction. According to them Silicon Valley is now split between a conservative red tech focused on hardware and a progressive blue tech centered on software

They also emphasize that these narratives are influencing Europe which now faces the risk of passively aligning with American techno-political visions instead of developing its own model.
