A distance de l’Etat : la production socio-spatiales des inégalités d’accès aux droits

The médialab seminar welcomes Clara Deville (CESEAR/INRAE) for a presntation on the effects of the development of digital tools on the conditions of access to rights.

Event, Research Seminar

Salle G009, 28 rue des Saints-Pères, 75007 Paris

Abstract

The presentation will examine the deployment of digital tools in social service agencies and their effects on the working class’s access to rights. While digitization is presented as a solution to combat underutilization of services, its implementation creates access barriers that widen the gap between applicants and their rights.

Biography

Clara Deville is a research fellow in sociology at CESAER/INRAE. Her work focuses on the relationship between the rural working class and the state. By combining an analysis of the closure of social service offices in rural areas with ethnographic studies of administrative processes, she examines the mechanisms that shape inequalities in access to public services.
