Voices from railways approaches

Marie Boishus, Robin de Mourat

What happens around railway lines? We regularly cross them without necessarily paying attention. This site reports on an investigation into the different ways in which we perceive and act in the vicinity of railway lines. By developing such descriptions, the aim is to take better account of the life that develops there. Our methodology consisted of taking into account six entities: stones, lizards, Philippe the ornithologist from the LPO, Japanese knotweed, SNCF Réseau and daily travellers. We used different methods, adapted to each of the entities, in the fields of design and ethnology, to investigate and report the data. In the course of this research we have learned a great deal about birds, lizards, legislation and a recent part of the history of the RER C line, which has its origins in 1979, and we invite you to explore it with us.
