Ismail Harrando is a postdoctoral researcher at SciencesPo.

After earning a software engineering degree from ENSA Tanger, he pivoted toward research, completing an MSc in AI and the Web at Ensimag and Université Grenoble Alpes, followed by a PhD in Data Science at Sorbonne Université and EURECOM. His doctoral thesis focused on Automatic Multimedia Understanding, working at the intersection of Knowledge Graphs, Natural Language Processing, Recommender Systems, and Multimodal Machine Learning.

Before joining the médialab, he worked as an R&D engineer on dialogue understanding and summarization. During this time, he gained invaluable experience in training, fine-tuning, and evaluating Large Language Models (LLMs) and contributed to open-source LLM-related initiatives.

Fascinated by human social behavior online, his current research investigates the spread of (mis)information on social media, with particular attention to its epistemic and political dimensions. Using methods from statistical modeling, natural language processing, and graph analysis, he aims to shed more light on the mechanisms that drive content engagement and sharing behaviors online
