What does the future hold for the American journalism model?

Thursday, July 25th, 2026, the médialab welcomed Christopher Anderson, Professor of Cultural Sociology at the University of Milan, for a conference co-organized with the DICEN on the topic of American journalism.

Having long occupied pride of place around the world, this conference argues that the centrality of the American model has come to an end. Drawing on a forthcoming history of digital news from 1989 - 2026 (Polity Press, 2027), Anderson focused on the reasons behind this shift, and possible normative replacements.

Zhao Alexandre Huang, associate professor accredited to supervise research in Information and Communication Sciences at the DICEN laboratory of the Gustave Eiffel University, was the discussant of the presentation.
