Representativeness and (re)weighting methods

The 43rd session of the MetSem seminar will take place on Thursday 4 April 2024 from 2.30 pm to 5 pm. We will be welcoming Thomas Merly-Alpa, Head of the Surveys and Polls Department at INED, for a presentation entitled "Representativeness and (re)weighting methods".

Introduction to the session : 

The aim of this presentation is to provide an overview of the methods used to calculate weights for probability surveys. It will review the main principles of calculating survey weights according to the sampling plan used, and then describe the usual methods for calculating a weight, such as homogeneous response groups and calibration on margins. 

Speaker's biography: 

Thomas Merly-Alpa has been head of INED's surveys and polls department since 2021. A director of INSEE, he was previously head of the Sampling section of INSEE's statistical methods department.
