Genesis, creation and operation of the Panoptic visualisation tool

The 40th session of the MetSem seminar will take place on Thursday 23 November from 2.30pm to 5pm, and will welcome Félix Alié, Edouard Bouté and Victor Ecrement from CERES (Centre d'expérimentation en méthodes numériques pour les recherches en Sciences Humaines et Sociales), for a presentation entitled "Genesis, creation and operation of the Panoptic visualisation tool".

Event, MetSem seminar

Introduction to the session :

Developed by CERES, Panoptic is a tool for viewing, exploring and annotating large image corpora. In particular, the tool incorporates algorithms for grouping images by similarity, which helps users to sort and explore them. The tool also offers various filtering, search and annotation options, enabling the creation, analysis and export of sub-corpuses.

The presentation at the medialab will cover the genesis of the tool's creation and the research work that went into it, followed by a general presentation of the tool's functions, and will conclude with a case study of one of Panoptic's user researchers.
