Support for the freedom of expression and mobilisation of Sciences Po students

Medialab press release

Post, Announcement

On the night of Wednesday 24 April, the management of Sciences Po called in the police to remove students gathered in solidarity with Palestine. The intrusion of the police, and the increasing use of summonses for students to appear before disciplinary committees, mark dangerous precedents in the life of our institution. Responding by force to a peaceful mobilisation of our students is at odds with university values, and poses disproportionate risks to the integrity of our students.

We, the members of the Medialab, express our deep concern at the criminalisation of certain social movements, in particular those linked to the suffering of the Palestinian people. We are also concerned about the various forms of government interference in our institution, such as the Prime Minister's brutal intrusion into the FNSP Board of Directors last month, which was denounced by all members of the Sciences Po academic community.

We express our deep attachment to the freedom of expression and mobilisation of students on campus. We warn of the dangers that repressive measures pose for students, and call on the administration to do its utmost to implement a dialogue involving all Sciences Po communities.
