This article offers an interpretative framework for the various meanings that can be given to the attribution of a power to the algorithms that increasingly govern the organization of digital information. It first highlights certain features of algorithmic calculations by explaining how they work, then breaks down various issues regarding the criticism, audit, and control of algorithms in view of the varied situations in which they are used.
