The 2018 EDGE International Summer School

Notice, Call for applications

The 3rd and last edition of the EDGE Summer School will take place between the 4th and the 8th of September 2018 in Liège, Belgium.

EDGE – Environmental Diplomacy and GEopolitics – is a joint project supported by the Horizon 2020 EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, which brings together three European partners: Sciences Po (France), the University of Economics in Bratislava (Slovakia), and the University of Liège (Belgium).

After successful editions in Paris in 2016 and in Bratislava in 2017, the third and last edition of the Summer School will be hosted in Liège and will focus on Environmental Changes and Migration.

Summer School Theme

The summer school will focus on "Environmental Changes and Migration in the Global Research Agenda" : what are the key challenges for academic scholarship and policy-making on this issue? What are the key research questions that should be tackled in the coming years?

This Summer School will seek to provide practical answers to this question through a highly stimulating and interactive programme, featuring many of the key experts and practitioners in the field.

Audience

The Summer School is open to PhD Students focusing their research on environmental changes and migration and Master’s Degree students interested in preparing a PhD related to environmental changes and migration.

Priority will be given to students from the three partner universities of the EDGE project (EUBA, Sciences Po and University of Liège), but the summer school is open to students from any university/higher education institution. No prerequisite is needed. We will seek to create a group as diverse as possible, in order to maximize the interactions between students.

Tuition Fees and Scholarships

Tuition fees are set at 400 EUR. They include all sessions, lunches and coffee breaks, as well as all social events, including the cocktail reception and the farewell dinner.

Kindly note that the tuition fee mentioned in the call does not apply to selected Sciences Po, EUBA and ULg participants and that their costs shall be covered by the project partners.

Full scholarships, including a lump sum of EUR 1,000 to cover for travel and accommodation, are available for applicants from low- and middle-income countries. Please indicate in your application if you would require such a scholarship.

All participants shall receive an official certificate upon completion of the programme.
